Fisherman missing while crossing canal

Welikanda Police commenced a search operation to find a fisherman, Sathyaseelan, 30, of Muthugala, who went missing while crossing a canal leading to Mahaweli Ganga in Muthugala on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, a 16 year old boy drowned in a canal in Ekala while bathing on the same day.

Ja Ela Police are investigating.

Police investigate death of vessel crew member

Colombo Harbour Police commenced an investigation into the death of a crew member of an Indonesian fishing vessel. He was reported dead on January 25, in the Somalian seas while being brought to Sri Lanka for treatment after he fell ill while fishing in the high seas. The victim was identified as Khan, an Indonesian fisherman. The body was sent to the Colombo National Hospital morgue for the post-mortem.

Digging own grave

A man was shot dead by a trap gun set up by himself to poach wild animals at Nawayakkulama in Anamaduwa. He was pronounced dead on admission to Anamaduwa hospital.

Three wanted men arrested

Three suspects wanted in connection with 10 house breaking incidents were arrested by Puttalam Police on Wednesday. Police also seized the stolen items from their possession. They were produced in Puttalam Magistrate's court yesterday.
