Man fined for power piracy

A man who pleaded guilty to tapping electricity by illegally manipulating the power meter of the house, was fined Rs 415,112 by Matara Chief Magistrate Udesh Ranatunga.

Rs 10,000 was court fine and Rs 405,112 was compensation due to the loss of income to the CEB. Officials attached to the Colombo Special Investigation Division of the Ceylon Electricity Board and Matara Police jointly made the detection.
