Hansani and Sandesh bag MOP awards

The emerging TT star from Nugegoda Anula Vidyalaya, Hansani Piyumila once again glittered bright clinching a double crown and was adjudged the Most Outstanding Player (girls’) in the Colombo District Table Tennis Championship conducted by the Junior OBA of Lalith Athulathmudali College, Mt.Lavinia at the college indoor stadium recently.

Sandesh Nissanka of Ananda College, Colombo who bagged the under-18 boys singles title defeating Royalist Virunaka Hendaheva (11/06, 09/11, 11/08) in the final was picked as the boys’ Most Outstanding Player.

Hansani has recently shown a steady progress in her TT career and won the under-15 title by beating Chamathsara Fernando of Girls High School, Mt Lavinia in easy straight set final (11/03, 11/05). The 14-year Anulavian played exceptionally well in the women's open event and proved her prowess by winning the final in easy straight sets against Vinodya De Silva of Royal Institute, Nugegoda (11/03, 11/06).

Sandesh has also qualified for the men's open final, but had to concede the victory to G N Lucas of Veterans’ TT Association after a close fight (11/06, 09/11, 13/15).

Under 08 girl’s singles : Hasali Sanaya Buddhadasa of Visakha Vidyalaya, Colombo beat Selini Herath of Girls High School, Mt Lavinia – 11/07, 11/05.

Under 08 boy’s singles : Senura Dilanka Silva of Isipathana College, Colombo beat Thumal Adikary of Royal College, Colombo - 11/01, 11/01.

Under 10 girl’s singles : Ayla Chitty of Ladies College, Colombo beat Ushiri Perera of Girls High School, Mt Lavinia - 08/11, 11/07, 11/07.

Under 10 boy’s singles : Thisas Ranchagoda of Royal College, Colombo beat Chanupa Gunasena of Ananda College, Colombo - 14/12, 11/04.

Under 12 girl’s singles : Senuri Perera of Anula Vidyalaya, Nugegoda beat Nilani Herath of Girls High School, Mt Lavinia 10/12,11/08,11/08.

Under 12 boy’s singles : Dewmith Weerasena of Lyceum International School, Nugegoda beat Thisas Ranchagoda of Royal College, Colombo - 11/09, 11/02.

Under 15 girl’s singles : Hansani Piumila of Anula Vidyalaya, Nugegoda beat Chamathsara Fernando of Girls High School, Mt Lavinia - 11/03, 11/05.

Under 15 boy’s singles : Virunaka Hendaheva of Royal College, Colombo beat Sandesh Nissanka of Ananda College, Colombo 11/06 , 11/09.

Under 18 girl’s singles : Dewmini weerasena of Musaeus College, Colombo beat Chamathsara Fernando of Girls High School, Mt Lavinia - 12/10 , 11/13,11/09.

Under 18 boy’s singles : Sandesh Nissanka of Ananda College, Colombo beat Virunaka Hendaheva of Royal College, Colombo - 11/06, 09/11, 11/08.

Women's singles : Hansani Piyumila of Anula Vidyalaya, Nugegoda beat Vinodya De Silva of Royal Institute, Nugegoda 11/03, 11/06.

Men's singles : G N Lucas of Veterans TT Association beat Sandesh Nissanka of Ananda College, Colombo 06/11, 11/09, 15/13.
