Western countries again trying to create disharmony
Athapattu Bandara
Prime Minister D. M. Jayaratne yesterday warned that certain Western
countries again are trying to create a distance between Sinhala and
Tamil communities which would consequently damage the long term
friendship between Sri Lanka and India.
The conspiracy has again raised its ugly head as what was happening
decades ago, he said. The Premier made these observations when he
visited the Hindu and Cultural Department to review the progress of the
department.
As per with the information received on this conspiracy, it is
reported that it would be designed to create an anarchical situation in
the country which would again sow the seeds of hatred between the
Sinhala Buddhists and Tamil Hindus, he said.
The Premier inspected the progress reports of the department and
programmes scheduled for this year.
In the past, people from from India migrated to Sri Lanka and settled
down on our soil. They led peaceful lives and ethnic coexistence was
rampant in those days, he reiterated. But the Westerners who are keen on
creating a crisis in Asian countries are making the ground for rivalry
among Asian nations.
"We should never let these forces to flourish, he emphasized. The
powerful countries always attempt to keep the poor countries in crisis.
They manufacture weapons to destroy the world, he explained.
The Premier also stated that though the Westerners invade countries
on the pretext of safeguarding human rights, they primarily target at
changing regime to their liking.
But nowhere they have been successful in curbing the violence in
those countries. They accelerated the situation from bad to worse, he
said. The Western countries keep on spying on Asia and, in particular,
the focal point of their outcry has been India. They attempt to
dismantle the Indian hegemony and create an adversary against it.
As a result, there are three new movements are active on the Indian
soil demanding separate homelands.
No matter how hard they might try, if we continue to live in harmony
those powers cannot do any harm to us , he said.
