Nabbed for stealing carrots

Uva Pranagama Police arrested two men from Galahagama near Uva Paranagama for stealing carrots from a crop field in Galhagama.

Police also seized the stolen carrots. There were 42 kilogrammes of carrot in the lot.

The two men appeared before court.

Drug traffickers arrested

Badulla Police arrested two men for trafficking drugs. There were 509 milligrams of heroin in their possession at the time of arrest. The men were brought before court.

Hunters netted

Wildlife Conservation Department officials in Sammanturai and Ampara recently arrested two men for hunting in the Sagama Wildlife Sanctuary.

They seized a stock of dried stag meat and two guns from their possession.

They were hunting in the sanctuary early morning and are believed to be traffickers in wild animal meat.

They were produced before court.

Marijuana planter nabbed

Badulla Police detected eight marijuana plants grown in a daspethiya flower grove in a garden in Egodavela off Badulla.

A 52-year-old was arrested by the Police in this connection and was questioned.

The man had grown the marijuana plants with the hope of producing cannabis.
