Rain steals victory from Nugawela CC

Rain and bad light thwarted Nugawela Central College of a possible
outright victory in their schools under 19 cricket tournament match
against Vijaya College, Matale which ended in a draw at Nugawela
yesterday.
Vijaya College who were trailing behind on the first innings by 105
runs were 141 for 7 when rain stopped play at 3 p.m. with nearly 45
overs remaining.
When Vijaya College bat, M.M. Silva hit a quick 57 with 6 sixes off
52 balls.
When Nugawela Central College bat, they made 294 for 9 declared in
only 54 overs. Dharshana Samarakoon struck the ball hard in making a
quick 63 with 6 sixes and 5 four off 53 deliveries.
Buddhika Wickremasinghe too batted exceedingly well top scoring with
69 which had 5 sixes and 6 fours.
