High quality music helps build sensitive persons by providing them
with mental peace and calmness. Children devoid of mental calmness
display their emotions by turning violent, said Western Provincial
Council member Yasapala Koralage.

He was addressing the gathering at a ceremony at the Horana Town Hall
to award certificates to a batch of 30 members of youth clubs in the
Kalutara district who had successfully completed a music training course
recently.
The music course was conducted by musician Chandraratne Ileperuma
under a programme organised by the National Youth Services Council with
funding from the Western Provincial Council.
Veteran artiste Janak Premalal said there are nearly 45 radio
channels in the country. Most channels broadcast music which tend to
debase people's minds, he added. Music has a strange power either to
enrich people's minds with love and compassion or arouse minds and drive
people, especially teens mad, he said.
He said trainees passing out that day would create a batch which
attained special national focus. Chandraratne Ileperuma also spoke. |
