Victoria Campus unveils for business:
VHEL complements Govt's educational hub goal - Pearson

Limited (VHEL) said their new campus opened in Colombo was its very
first venture in Sri Lanka and the reason they opened the Victoria
Higher Education campus was to complement the efforts made by the
government to make Sri Lanka the educational hub in the region.

He expressed these views at VHEL's first press conference held in
Colombo to announce the unveiling of business operations in the New
Year.
Pearson said, "We are offering the same type of degree in its
entirety as you would do if you studied that degree up in the UK. We are
collaborating with the university of Greenwich in the UK which is a
prestige university based in London." This university has very high
ranking student satisfaction and teaching quality he said.
A BOI project, Victoria Higher Education Campus (VHEC), is a Higher
Education Institution, which will deliver degree programmes from the
University of Greenwhich in London, UK.
The University of Greenwich in London has been given the highest
marks possible by the UK Quality Assurance Agency for teaching and VHEL
is proud to deliver degree programmes from the University of Greenwich
to students in Sri Lanka and its neighbouring region.
VHEL owned by EDNET, a Dubai based company, will provide the
financial stability and backing required to operate in the education
market in Sri Lanka.
VHEL draws from its experience in setting up and developing
Universities in the Middle East, Dubai, Asia and Africa, and many other
international partnerships and collaborations that have proved to be a
success and stand today as hallmarks of educational bodies in Europe,
the Mediterranean, Singapore, Mainland China and Hong Kong. The vision
of the Victoria Higher Education Campus is to provide high quality
British higher education at foundation, undergraduate and postgraduate
level, across a range of subjects in Sri Lanka.
VHEC aims to deliver an excellent experience to students, enabling
them to move into stable employment and contribute to the local economy.
Located centrally in Colombo 3 and in close proximity to the British
Council, VHEC has attracted the finest academics in the Asian region,
making it a meeting point for the senior academics in one place.
The programmes will be taught and assessed to British quality
standards and in accordance with British teaching and assessment
methods.
The use of IT systems and online material will feature significantly
in the classrooms. The programmes will be subject to inspection by the
Sri Lanka Regulators and by the British Quality Assurance Agency.
VHEC will deliver full degree programmes from the University of
Greenwich right here in Sri Lanka - for the entire undergraduate
programme including the foundation programme.
For a fraction of the cost of in comparison to travelling overseas
for studies overseas, VHEC is equipped with the expertise, financial
stability and a strong network of professional educators to give your
child the very best experience and curriculum that is available in the
United Kingdom; right here in Colombo.
VHEC offers an International Foundation Programme commencing February
2013 and a range of undergraduate and Postgraduate Degree Programmes
from September 2013 (both one a full time and part time scheme). These
include BSc (Hons) International Business - BA Hons, Accounting and
Finance - BSc Hons, Computer Science, MBA International Business and MSc
Computer Science all in collaboration with the University of Greenwich
in London, UK.
The first ten students who apply for the International Foundation
programme are entitled to a scholarship during the February 2013 intake.
Furthermore, students who register for the International Foundation
programme will get a scholarship for the first year of the Degree
Programme at VHEC.
Scholarships will also be available for the Degree Progammes and the
Masters programmes which are due to commence in September 2013.
VHEC students will have the flexibility to transfer from VHEC in
Colombo to the University of Greenwich in London, and back from
Greenwich to VHEC if required at any point of their Degree programme.
Whilst in London they will have to pay the London fees, of course.
The Degree is a full Degree programme by the University of Greenwich and
will further state so, on the Certificate issued by the University.
This flexibility is especially convenient for those students who may
want to experience living overseas for a period of time or for matters
of financial convenience.
A professional panel of UK experienced lectures are on board at VHEC
to ensure teaching methodology and the UK curriculum is upheld to the
highest standard and quality.
This panel of educators have international exposure and have years of
teaching experience with a great deal of lecturing exposure to
innovative learning environments. The teaching methods are contemporary;
ensuring that the classroom experience, knowledge derived and student
culture created within the local Campus is equivalent to that in London.
The VHEC Campus will be fully equipped with modern facilities and
amenities including wi-fi access across the campus site, a spacious
