Victoria Campus unveils for business:

VHEL complements Govt's educational hub goal - Pearson

Russell Pearson, Campus Director Victoria Higher Education (Private) Limited (VHEL) said their new campus opened in Colombo was its very first venture in Sri Lanka and the reason they opened the Victoria Higher Education campus was to complement the efforts made by the government to make Sri Lanka the educational hub in the region.

He expressed these views at VHEL's first press conference held in Colombo to announce the unveiling of business operations in the New Year.

Pearson said, "We are offering the same type of degree in its entirety as you would do if you studied that degree up in the UK. We are collaborating with the university of Greenwich in the UK which is a prestige university based in London." This university has very high ranking student satisfaction and teaching quality he said.

A BOI project, Victoria Higher Education Campus (VHEC), is a Higher Education Institution, which will deliver degree programmes from the University of Greenwhich in London, UK.

The University of Greenwich in London has been given the highest marks possible by the UK Quality Assurance Agency for teaching and VHEL is proud to deliver degree programmes from the University of Greenwich to students in Sri Lanka and its neighbouring region.

VHEL owned by EDNET, a Dubai based company, will provide the financial stability and backing required to operate in the education market in Sri Lanka.

VHEL draws from its experience in setting up and developing Universities in the Middle East, Dubai, Asia and Africa, and many other international partnerships and collaborations that have proved to be a success and stand today as hallmarks of educational bodies in Europe, the Mediterranean, Singapore, Mainland China and Hong Kong. The vision of the Victoria Higher Education Campus is to provide high quality British higher education at foundation, undergraduate and postgraduate level, across a range of subjects in Sri Lanka.

VHEC aims to deliver an excellent experience to students, enabling them to move into stable employment and contribute to the local economy. Located centrally in Colombo 3 and in close proximity to the British Council, VHEC has attracted the finest academics in the Asian region, making it a meeting point for the senior academics in one place.

The programmes will be taught and assessed to British quality standards and in accordance with British teaching and assessment methods.

The use of IT systems and online material will feature significantly in the classrooms. The programmes will be subject to inspection by the Sri Lanka Regulators and by the British Quality Assurance Agency.

VHEC will deliver full degree programmes from the University of Greenwich right here in Sri Lanka - for the entire undergraduate programme including the foundation programme.

For a fraction of the cost of in comparison to travelling overseas for studies overseas, VHEC is equipped with the expertise, financial stability and a strong network of professional educators to give your child the very best experience and curriculum that is available in the United Kingdom; right here in Colombo.

VHEC offers an International Foundation Programme commencing February 2013 and a range of undergraduate and Postgraduate Degree Programmes from September 2013 (both one a full time and part time scheme). These include BSc (Hons) International Business - BA Hons, Accounting and Finance - BSc Hons, Computer Science, MBA International Business and MSc Computer Science all in collaboration with the University of Greenwich in London, UK.

The first ten students who apply for the International Foundation programme are entitled to a scholarship during the February 2013 intake. Furthermore, students who register for the International Foundation programme will get a scholarship for the first year of the Degree Programme at VHEC.

Scholarships will also be available for the Degree Progammes and the Masters programmes which are due to commence in September 2013.

VHEC students will have the flexibility to transfer from VHEC in Colombo to the University of Greenwich in London, and back from Greenwich to VHEC if required at any point of their Degree programme.

Whilst in London they will have to pay the London fees, of course. The Degree is a full Degree programme by the University of Greenwich and will further state so, on the Certificate issued by the University.

This flexibility is especially convenient for those students who may want to experience living overseas for a period of time or for matters of financial convenience.

A professional panel of UK experienced lectures are on board at VHEC to ensure teaching methodology and the UK curriculum is upheld to the highest standard and quality.

This panel of educators have international exposure and have years of teaching experience with a great deal of lecturing exposure to innovative learning environments. The teaching methods are contemporary; ensuring that the classroom experience, knowledge derived and student culture created within the local Campus is equivalent to that in London.

The VHEC Campus will be fully equipped with modern facilities and amenities including wi-fi access across the campus site, a spacious student lounge, an innovative learning environment and free thinking culture, student centred facilities, a library containing several thousand topics and electronic resources and state of the art IT facilities.
