Bank series at the Sydney Cricket Ground was abandoned when the rain
came down making no further play possible with Sri Lanka on 14 for

Local billiards supremo K.H. Sirisoma of Sri
Lanka Ports Authority (SLPA) made history by clinching National
Billiards title for the 20th time, beating one-time National
Champion (2009) S.H.M. Aslam of Moors SC in the 60th National
Billiards Championship concluded at the Sugathadasa Sports Hotel
yesterday.

Weight lifter Dhammika sets up three new records
M M Dhammika Harischandra from Sri Lanka Air
Force, one of the most experienced woman weight lifters at present
had set three new Sri Lanka records at the recently concluded
Defence Services Weight Lifting Contest. She lifted 73 kgs in satch
and 90 kgs in clean and jerk totalling 163 kgs, representing the 75
kgs weight category.

Moratu Vidyalaya fields a strong team
From time to time Moratu Vidyalaya's
contribution towards all forms of Sri Lankan competitive cricket is
praiseworthy. They commenced playing inter-school cricket in 1934
and the first cricket captain was S N Samarasinghe and to date they
have produced cricketers in various categories who have performed
well in numerous competitions. They could boast of Sri Lankan Spin
Wizard Ajantha Mendis who is one of their products and presently
participating in limited over matches in Australia.
