Indonesia has agreed to give all possible assistance to strengthen
the ties between the two countries by providing greater opportunities
for exports, investments and tourism promotion.
Indonesia's new Ambassador in Sri Lanka Harimawan Suyitno gave this
assurance to Economic Development Minister Basil Rajapaksa when they met
at the ministry office.
After assuming duties the ambassador met the minister for the first
time and discussed with him at length on plans for improving economic
relations between the two countries. The minister stressed Indonesia's
cooperation to develop Sri Lanka's fisheries industry and requested
assistance to train Sri Lankan fishermen for the purpose. Minister
