Water sources for animals

Two dilapidated tanks, Uraluwewa and Surandiramwewa in the Yala
National Park will be renovated by the Irrigation Department to provide
water for wild animals. The two tanks remained dilapidated several years
creating an acute shortage of water for the animals during the drought
seasons.
NIBM Kandy branch opening
President Mahinda Rajapaksa will open the Kandy branch of the NIBM at
No 2, Asgiriya Road, Kandy today.
The new NIBM branch offers the opportunity of quality courses in
Management, Computer Science and English language for school leavers and
working professionals, served by lecturers within a government
institution.
The NIBM, which has over four decades of experience in the
educational field, was recognised as the leading government service
educational institute in 2010.
Visit of Islamic scholar
Islamic scholar Shaykh Imadudeen Abu Hijleh is on a visit to Sri
Lanka. A special event 'An Evening of Remembrance - Reflecting and
Reviving Prophetic Behaviour' will be held at Marine Grand, Marine Drive
on January 21 from 7 pm as a fund raising dinner.

Shaykh Imad hails from the Quraishi family of Abu Ubaidah al Jarrah
originally from Jordan and presently lives in Tarim, Yemen.
During his stay in Sri Lanka he will deliver lectures, conduct focus
group meetings, deliver Jumma sermons and meet Muslim organisations.
Shaykh Imad is the founder of the Al Razi Institute in Boston,
Masachussets.
He has taught at Harvard University and authoured many books covering
various Islamic topics such as Aqidah, Fiqh, Zakat, fasting and
spirituality.
Guitar Fest 2013
Guitar Fest 2013 presented by the Sri Lanka Guitar Association will
be held today from 6.30pm at the Navarangahala, Colombo and tomorrow
from 6.30pm at the E O E Perera Theatre, University of Peradeniya,
