PEOPLE REJECTED PSEUDO SPRING - President
Patriotic masses defeated elements with vested
interests who were waiting for the dawn of an ‘Arab Spring’, as in
Libya and many other Arab countries, to overthrow the UPFA
government, said President Mahinda Rajapaksa. He said people in
their thousands took to the streets in support of the government,
when a handful of conspirators tried to overthrow it by calling for
an ‘Arab Spring’ style uprising.

Divi Neguma boosts rural economy - Minister
The Divi Neguma Act passed by Parliament is a
victory for the government, while defeating several forces and
overcoming a number of challenges. The Divi Neguma programme aims to
uplift the rural economy, Public Administration and Home Affairs
Minister W D J Seneviratne said. The minister was addressing a
special ceremony at Sri Wickremasinghe Abhayathilakaramaya, Kuruwita.
