Railway to be completed

The reconstruction of a 56 kilometre railway track from Pallai to Kankesanthurai will be completed by September this year, said Indian Consul General V Mahalingham told to the media in Jaffna.

The railway track is funded by the Indian government at a cost of US$ 150 million.

He said there is a delay in the construction work at Elephant Pass and Navatkuly bridges. "But as the material for the infrastructure work has been brought, work will start immediately. Modern technology will be applied in the laying of the railway track to silence the noise of fast moving trains," he said.
