Broadlands Hydropower Project agreement inked

The Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) signed loan agreements with ICBC Bank, China for the construction of the Broadlands Hydropower Project. The signing took place at the CEB Headoffice.

A CEB spokesman said the ICBC Bank agreed to grant a loan of USD 69.7 million for this project, while the Hatton National Bank will also grant a loan of USD 12.3 million for the constructions. CEB Chairman Prof. Wimaladharma Abeywickrema and ICBC Bank International Credit Department Head Yan signed the agreement representing the two countries. The project will have an installed capacity of 35 MW and expects to generate 126 million GWh of electrical energy annually.
