Ceylon Chamber of Commerce launches Spark iT

The Ceylon Chamber of Commerce recently announced the launch of Spark
iT , a dedicated project to sustain and provide start up possibilities
for promising IT entrepreneurs in the country over the next five years.

The Spark iT will provide mentor-ship, seed funding for ICT
Entrepreneurs across the country to either launch or accelerate or
expand their businesses. The project will be an ideal platform for the
budding ICT entrepreneurs to accelerate or start up businesses through
access to potential private sector investors and expert guidance in
developing business plan.
Project Chairman of 'Spark iT' and Managing Director of Venture
Engine Prajeeth Balasubramaniam said that Spark iT project will comprise
a competition for ICT entrepreneurs to present their innovative business
plans for new businesses or existing businesses and the top ten ICT
entrepreneurs who come up with innovative business plans will have the
opportunity to receive an additional investment award of Rs 10 million
in cash/equity to action their business plans. According to
Balasubramaniam, it is expected to provide the ideal start-up platform
through Spark iT and scale up to 125 businesses by 2016."
Event partner for the Spark iT project, venture engine will structure
and administer the above competition and Sri Lanka' s premier,
telecommunication service provider Etisalat has come forward as the
platinum sponsor for the 'Spark iT' initiative .
All business entries can be submitted from January 16 and the entry
closing date will be on February16 . Submissions can also be emailed to
