Tharushan’s (6/12) makes it easy for Lumbini

Lumbini Maha Vidyalaya claimed a 59-run victory over Nalanda College, thanks to an unbeaten secon innings half century by Rafan Mannan (51) and a fine six wicket haul of Tharushan Iddamalgoda (six for 12) in their under 19 match concluded at Campbell Place yesterday.

Lumbini : 74 in 35.4 overs and 179 for 7 declared in 51.5 overs ( Chamara Nishantha 42, Tharushan Iddamalgoda 28, Rafan Mannan 51 n.o., Janith Dias 25 n.o., Malinga de Silva 3 for 52, Pramud Hettiwatte 3 for 60)

Nalanda : 76 in 36.2 overs and 118 in 52.4 overs ( Lahiru Jayakody 46, Chamara Nishantha 3 for 52, Tharushan Iddamalgoda 6 for 12)


Sebs in command

St.Sebastian’s College were in a commanding position at the end of the first day’s play against Royal College, Colombo with the help of a fine century by Anushka Perera (116 not out) in their under 19 match began at Reid Avenue yesterday. The match will resume today at 9.30 am

St. Sebastian’s : 231 for 9 in 77 overs declared (Anushka Perera 116 n.o., Samith Silva 22, Hashen Ramanayake 3 for 23, Devind Pathmanathan 2 for 33, Chamika Karunaratne 2 for 39)

Amitha, Kaushalya steer Zahira to win

Zahira College registered a two-wicket win over Mahanama College in their under 19 match played at Zahira ground, Maradana yesterday. Amitha Kaushalya (five for 43) and Irshad Umer (five for 49) were the main wreckers for Zahira College and helped to skittle out Manama for 128 in the second innings. Zahira batsmen achieved the target with two wickets to spare.

Mahanama : 221 all out in 67.3 overs and 128 in 26.5 overs ( Pawan Devinda 91, Amitha Kaushalya 5 for 43, Irshad Umer 5 for 49)

Zahira : 217 in 52.4 overs and 133 for 8 in 30.4 overs ( Nisky Ahamed 22, Arshad Imamudeen 32, Dileepa Samarasekara 37 n.o., Kalana Hashan 5 for 56, Dulanjana Seneviratne 2 for 55)


Javed, Thilaksha centurions

A fine 232-run partnership for the third wicket between Javed Bongso and Thilaksha Sumanasiri helped S. Thomas’ College, Mount Lavinia to pile up a mammoth 413 total on day-1 in their under 19 match against Ananda College commenced at Ananda Mawatha yesterday.

Javed (184) and Thilaksha (119) displayed a superb batting show making troubles for Ananda bowlers. The match will resume today at 9.30 am

Geethika claims five-wicket haul

A five-wicket haul for St. Benedict’s College by Geethika Jayatilleke (five for 42) and fine half century (67) by Thareen Lakeesh for Holy Cross College, Kalutara were the highlights on the first day of their under 19 match began at Kalutara yesterday. The match will continue at 9.30 am.
