Body found
The body of a male was recovered by the Police at Kanthapuram,
Kodungan, Pilavukulam.
The relatives of the deceased found his body floating in a pond. He
was identified as Ganeshan, 30.
Uniform for trishaw drivers
The three-wheeler drivers of Nelliyady, Point Pedro were instructed
to wear uniforms at a meeting of the three-wheeler drivers by Point
Pedro District Judge Srinithi Nandasekaran.
The three-wheeler drivers agreed to provide a free passenger service
for pregnant mothers to go to hospital.
Two held with explosives
Army Intelligence branch officers arrested two persons with eight
kilograms of C4 explosives at Gurunagar pier. The explosives were
brought in a three-wheeler to be given to a fisherman. They were caught
when the explosives were given to the fisherman. The two are from
Polykay and Kilinochchi. They were handed over to Gurunagar Police.
Motorcyclist dies in accident
A man who was racing on a motorcycle was thrown off from the cycle at
Meesalai North when the cycle tripped over a stone on the road. The man
died at Jaffna Teaching Hospital after being admitted with severe
injuries. He was identified as Subramaniam Balakumar, 52, of Meesalai,
Kernyaddi.
Cyclist knocked down
A private bus and a cyclist collided head on, on the Vavuniya-Kandy
Road, opposite the Zonal Education Office on Sunday.
The cyclist died on the spot. He was identified as P. Selvarajah, 56,
worker at the Central Irrigation Office in Vavuniya.
