New road to ease traffic

With the aim of ending the acute traffic congestion that has been
prevailing in the Eheliyagoda town for a long period of time,
construction of an alternate 30 ft. wide one-way road along the old
Kelani Valley rail road from Eheliyagoda to Moragala is now under way.
Eheliyagoda Pradeshiya Sabha Chairman Sarath Sandanayake told the
Daily News that it is targetted to complete the construction of the
nearly one kilometre road soon and that traffic congestion which occurs
at peak hours will be eliminated when it is completed. The Eheliyagoda
town has been chosen to be developed under the 20 town development
schemes recently introduced and put into operation by the government |
