Lawyers collective plead with ousted CJ: “Please don’t go madam”
The lawyers who appeared for Chief Justice Shirani Bandaranayake
yesterday pleaded with her not to leave the post even though
Parliament has found her guilty as charged in the recent Impeachment
Motion.
These lawyers led by S. Sumanthiran (TNA MP), J.C. Weliamuna and
Kandiah Neelakandan said that their campaign against a democratically
elected government would end in failure, if Chief Justice Bandaranayake
does not remain in office.
They addressed the media at Hotel Nippon yesterday.
This Lawyers Collective led by well known top dollar-drawing NGO
activists used the Chief Justice as a cat’s-paw to show the world that
Sri Lanka is a country sans the Rule of Law, prior to the UN Human
Rights Council sessions to be held in March this year. |
