CMC to clamp down on unhealthy eateries

The Colombo Municipal Council (CMC) will take strict legal action against vendors of unhygienic food, CMC sources said. The sources said the CMC has received a large number of complaints about unhealthy food being sold or served in many city eating houses and food outlets especially during the night.

“The CMC is paying attention especially on temporary food outlets serving prepared food only during the night within the city of Colombo,” the sources said.

CMC health officers will carry out raids on these places from next week.
