Guitar fest 2013 in Colombo and Kandy
The third Colombo Guitar Fest 2013 will feature top guitarists of Sri
Lanka sharing the same stage along with a Japanese classical guitarist
Ken Sugamata on January 19 and 20 in Colombo and Kandy. The Colombo
concert will be held at the Royal College Navarangahala and followed by
the hill country show on January 20 at the E.O.E Perera Memorial Hall,
Peradeniya University, Kandy. Each concert will continue for two and
half hours, commencing at 6pm.
Guitar Association of Sri Lanka staging the two concerts for free of
charge with the sole aim to popularize diverse genres of guitar music
along with their correct performing techniques. Yamaha Music Centre
sponsoring for the sound equipments and music controlling of the shows
and more interestingly country's best guitarists have volunteered to
perform in the concerts, keeping aside their different ideologies.
Colombo Guitar Fest 2013 showcases world's popular guitar styles
including classical, flamenco, Jazz, blues, rock heavy metal, Hawaiian,
trova and fusion performances by well known talented local artists who
are considered to be maestros in respective genres.
The annual guitar fest unites multifarious performers with a vibrant
audience where they share a harmony in diversity respecting each other.
Among the artists contributing lies most of the big names in the guitar
scene including classical and flamenco legend Amaranath Ranathunga,rock
star Derek Wickramanayake, famous Anthony Surendra, Stigmata's Andrew
Obeysekara along with young undergraduates of Visual and Performing Arts
University of Sri Lanka. |
