Believe in people, than one individual - Welgama

The conduct of close subordinates of politicians sometimes leads to the destruction of the image of those politicians, Transport Minister Kumara Welgama said.

He said it would always be wise to believe in people rather than believing in one particular individual.

Welgama said jealousy and double minded behaviour of some close subordinates of political characters have resulted in their destruction.

The minister made these comments at a ceremony to open Horawala- Madawala road which was newly concreted spending Rs one million provisioned by Western Provincial Councilor Wikum Gunasekara.

"I was born and grown up in a village and I assumed ministerial posts after entering Parliament from villagers' votes. I always love people. I never take decisions which may hurt people or distance myself from them, even though I have so many subordinates. I take decisions after thinking twice. That is why people continuously elected me since 1994," he said.
