St Thomas' College Matara overcame P de S Kularathna College
Ambalangoda by an innings and 134 runs at the Uyanwatta Cricket Grounds
on Thursday. P de S Kularathna opted to bat first on the alien turf
wicket but were bundled out for a paltry 38 runs in just 17.2 overs.
Hashan Vimarshana and Rasika Damith captured five wickets each.
Skipper Jayanga de Silva scored 117 in 126 balls with thirteen
boundaries and a six to see STC Matara end day one at 211/5. Jayanga and
Dhanusha Lanka (45) shared a fourth wicket stand of 156 runs. The
Thomians added another 43 runs for the loss of one wicket in 10.4 overs
to declare their first innings at 254/6.
The lads from Ambalangoda could not impress in their second innings
and were restricted to 82 runs. Thaleesha Dilan 5/21 and Hashan
Vimarshana 4/15 shared the wickets.
