President leading country on right direction - PM

President Mahinda Rajapaksa is a leader who faces foreign influence
bravely. The President took steps to end the war and develop the country
in a short span. Infrastructure development programmes launched by the
President helped develop the country's tourism industry, Prime Minister
D M Jayaratne said.

The Prime Minister made these views at a meeting on January 1 in
Doluwa, Kandy. The meeting was organised to wish the President, the
Prime Minister and the people.
He praised First Lady Shiranthi Rajapaksa for safeguarding the rights
of women with dedication.
Prime Minister Jayaratne also praised the First Lady for her services
in the field of education, helping children, women and patients.
"Government officers should fulfill the people's requirements without
restricting to administrative rules and regulations. If any allegations
are made against a person who bears a top position, he should resign
from his post," he said."There is a section who act on the false
information given by some people and a number of officials living in
Colombo and the suburbs. However, the majority trust the President. Some
are launching propaganda campaigns against Sri Lanka. We should always
try to safeguard our country," he said.The Prime Minister said if
someone discredits the country, it will destroy the future of the
children.
"All should think of the country and work for the country's uplift,"
he said. |
