Yellow rain in Kataragama

Residents of Peragirigama, Kataragama experienced yellow rain on Thursday evening.

Seeling Appuhamy, 87, said a neighbour collected the yellow rain in a container.

Nanda K.Epa, 58, a house wife said it rained for about 20 minutes and she later noticed yellowish water collected in a basin in her compound.

R K A Ariyapala, a Dhamma school teacher in the area, handed over a sample of the water to the Kataragama Divisional Secretary T B M Atapattu who said he will send the water to Moneragala District Secretary A Pathinathan.

Kataragama MO H Dr Ajiith Kumara also said he investigate the incident.
