Mini-cyclone damages 31 houses

Thirty one houses were damaged in the Polonnaruwa District as a result of a mini- cyclone accompanied by heavy rains. Polonnaruwa District Secretary Nimal Abeysiri said the continuous rain experienced posed a threat of floods and warned people to take precautions.

He said the cyclone experienced at around 2.30 pm yesterday damaged the roofs of many houses in Medrigiriya and Polonnaruwa. He said that around 15 houses in Medirigiriya, Nagahapura,Senarathpura MInippuragama. and another 15 houses in Lankapura, Kaduriwela East, Batathuna village and one house in Palugasdamana weredamaged.
