The homeopathy hospital in Welisara completed it's first decade
today. A ceremony in this regard will be held under the patronage of
Indigenous Medicine Minister Salinda Dissanayake with the participation
of Deputy Indigenous Medicine Minister Pandu Bandaranayake.
A religious programme and special clinic for testing eyes and blood
have also been organized, Indigenous Medicine Ministry spokesperson
said.
Minister Dissanayake has taken steps to develop homeopathy medicine
and as a result, will make the homeopathy medicine hospital a fully
fledged teaching hospital in the near future.
Currently, only three doctors are working at this hospital in
Welisara although there is a great demand for this natural treatment
system. The Indigenous Medicine Ministry provides treatment through
Outdoor Patient Division and Indoor Patient Division at the Welisara
hospital as a community based service. Homeopathy is suitable for non
communicable disease as well.
The government has approved this medical system under the No 8
Homeopathy Act in 1970. The founder of this medical system is Christian
Friedrich Samuel Hahnemann who lived in West Germany during the 18th
century. |
