Speaker will pronounce on legality of verdict on Jan 8

Cabinet Spokesman and Mass Media and Information Minister Keheliya Rambukwella explained that no legislator will comment on yesterday’s Appeal Court’s verdict on the Parliamentary Select Committee (PSC), whereas Speaker Chamal Rajapaksa will announce Parliament’s stand on the matter on January 8 when the House resumes for the New Year.

No third party can question affairs of Parliament. No institution, other than the Legislature has been vested power in relation to the removal of Supreme Court Justices including the Chief Justice under the Constitution, Deputy Speaker Chandima Weerakkody said yesterday. He was addressing a special press conference at the Parliament complex yesterday.
