The motto of our lives should be justice, equality and work, which
boost one's personal development while contributing towards the
country's development, International Monetary Cooperation Senior
Minister and Financial and Planning Deputy Minister Dr. Sarath Amunugama
said.
He was addressing a group of Students' Prefect Association who
gathered at his Colombo office.
"When people live in society in peace, the country will, in turn, be
peaceful and a just society will emerge. When we work hard, the income
and production of the country will also increase ensuring development,"
he said.
"The entire country will experience a new time of fortune," he added.
"We must learn to work without laziness from childhood. The child who
gets up early to study before going to school will definitely be
successful in life.
"The child who shows reluctance in getting up early will ruin his
life," he said.
The young generation should be moulded as children who are not lazy
but obedient to parents and teachers. Then they will learn to perceive
their lives with a fresh meaning, the Senior Minister said.
He added that a knowledgeable child who is accustomed to read about
various subjects will be a perfect leader in society.
