Development plan for Ampara

The local government authorities in the Ampara district have prepared a four year project implementation programme for the district from 2013 to 2016 in collaboration with the Economic Development Ministry under the Pura Neguma development programme, Ampara Regional Assistant Commissioner of Local Government A. J. M. Irzad told the Daily News.

This is a pilot project to be implemented by the local government bodies in the areas.

A list of development projects have been identified and planned out on a priority basis for implementation from 2013.

Work on construction and renovation of buildings, drainage systems etc, providing electricity to remote areas and renovating roads are given priority under this programme.

Meetings were held with Grama Niladaris in the areas. Emphasis was laid on people's participation where their ideas were given priority.
