Indulging yourself this year

Forget the Monday blues and surrender to the mystical beckoning of tradition at Sri Lanka’s only village in the city Nuga Gama, as the Shilpa Ranga dance troupe performs a series of traditional dances depicting Sri Lanka’s folktales, myths and beliefs, between 8pm and 9pm.

Get lost in magical folklore and culture while enjoying the evening breeze under the imperial banyan tree in this enchanting little village, while, ordering off Chef Sujith’s typically Sri Lankan menu. Tuesday’s are dedicated to vegetarians as Sri Lanka’s premier South Indian restaurant lays out an extensive vegetarian buffet.

Comprising over 40 dishes, Chutney’s South Indian Chefs Venu and Krishna put their experience and speciality to use, presenting authentic dishes from the Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala and Tamil Nadu regions. This all you can eat buffet is on from 7pm to 11 pm.

Dinner time on Wednesday indicates half the working week over and done with. A time to rejoice no doubt and what better way to do so than the Italian way.

Tuck into the Italian Infinity at Echo, with an array of antipasti, a soup, five main dishes and desserts, so one can end their mid-week fulfilled.

Thursdays are a treat for true epicureans as Tao dishes out a sensory culinary voyage around the world, blending Asian and Western dishes, in an epic fusion feast.

Try seven starters, three soups, seven main courses and seven desserts in the ultimate dining experience. The epicurean menu is available form 7pm to12 midnight at the Tao.

Celebrate Friday at Breeze Bar, located under the wistful Benjamina tree and by the cooling poolside, making it the ideal place for conversation and an evening drink. Indulge in a pre-weekend wind down and drown you work stress in a choice of 32 different shakers, blenders and straight ups, at half price.

Also choose the snack of choice from the unique Oriental Tapas menu a mouthwatering array of oriental delicacies to suit any palette, prepared with an innovative perspective, culinary care and exotic ingredients.

‘Meat up’ by the poolside for the table side BBQ on Saturdays, an ideal time for family fun. Succulent meats, seafood, a selection of breads and other accompaniments on offer for an evening of poolside pleasure for the whole family, 5pm onwards, by the Breeze Bar. This relaxing option is a great way to start off the Saturday night or recuperate from a day full of household chores.

Sunday is a special day at Cinnamon Grand as a choice of indulgences is offered to ensure you end the week in style. Get hooked on the best sea food in town and relish the ocean’s bounty on your plate, as The Lagoon offers a selection of the day’s catch infused with traditional Sri Lankan flavours, in an all you can eat buffet. Maalu Maalu promises this unparalleled dining experience including 50 percent discount on selected beverages and free pool usage.

The fantastic spread at the famed Sunday brunch buffet at Taprobane has something for everyone and is the ultimate family experience, including a range of varied cuisines, both international and local. Between 11.30am and 3pm, this buffet lays out a sumptuous feast for the whole family. Making Sunday a cheerful one for meat lovers, the Sunday roast menu offers traditional carvery dining in a typically British pub setting.

The Cheers pub turns into a carnivore paradise between 11.30am-3pm, as the most finely sliced roast meats are dished out, so you can accompany it with an afternoon brew at the pub and have that perfect lazy Sunday you dreamt of all week long. Sunday lunch at Nuga Gama serves up an authentic of Sri Lankan lunch spread which gives you the best of traditional rural fare in the serene surroundings of a sustainable village.
