The champion Western Province South cricket team

Western Province South (WPS) team chased down the target of 267 against Western Province North (WPN) to win the under 15 Prima Cup-Inter Provincial tournament at R. Premadasa Stadium, Colombo recently.

The tournament was played in six different venues from December 10, and there were 10 provincial teams battling out for the trophy. In the final, WPN won the toss and chose to bat first made 266 in their allotted 50 overs.

In reply the WPS reached the target with five overs to spare.

Lakshina Rodrigo was selected as the Man of the Match for his quick fire 69 runs from 44 balls with five sixes.

The Southern Province player, Ashen Dimuth was awarded with the Man of the Series award. WPN: 266-9 in 50 overs (Malinga Amarasinghe 74, Navod Kalansooriya 34) WPS 269-7 in 45 overs (Avishka Fernando 89, Lakshina Rodrigo 69, Dileepa Jayalath 3/43, Rahal Avishka 2/64).
