Suspect nabbed with cigarettes worth Rs 24,000

Meegahawatta Police nabbed a suspect involved in three robberies in Malwana.

Police found stolen cigarettes valued at Rs 24,000 in the suspect's possession.

The suspect produced before Mahara magistrate Sahan Mapa Bandara was remanded.

Meanwhile, a woman knocked down by a van along the Kelaniya - Biyagama Road, Ragghawatta died on the spot.

The Police sought public help to identify the woman aged about 65, four feet and six inches in height and attired in a green and white batik blouse and a brown skirt.

The body is lying at the Ragama Hospital Mortuary.
