| Sumanadasa Abeygunawardena was
conferred the Jothirvidya Vibhooshana title at a function
held for the first time to honour astrologists. It was
organised by the Culture and Arts Department. Here Culture
and Arts Minister T. B. Ekanayake awarding the sammana to
Abeygunawardena. Ministry Secretary Wasantha Ekanayake,
Additional Secretary H. D. S. Malkanthi, Advisor to the
minister Sirinal Laddusinghe, Ministry Chief Accountant C.
Weerasinghe were also present. |

| The Maha Perehera of Galgoda Sri Maha
Viharaya, Panadura paraded the streets on Saturday.
Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Development Minister Dr
Rajitha Senaratne placed the Sacred Relics Casket. The
perehera was held under the patronage of the viharaya’s
