H. Fernando – Negombo Special Corr

Melani Fernando, 14-year-old Grade Eight student of Ave Maria Convent, Negombo emerged swimming champion in the National Sports Festival's Inter-Divisional sports Festival. She came first in the 100 Metres Breast Stroke, 200 Metres Breast Stroke and 100 Metres Free Style Event.

In the Junior National Acquatic Meet 2012 Melani Fernando taking part in the under 14 category emerged champion in the 100 Metres free style event, 200 Metres free Style event and 400 Metres free style event. In the same event in the Breast stroke event she was placed second and also placed second in the 200 Metres Free Style event.
