Thuthimal Madugalle a promising athlete

Ten year old Thuthimal Madugalle of Colombo International School,
Kandy branch is one of the promising athletes in the junior athletic
scene having won the best performer's award at the major meets in the
Kandy district.
At the Central Province Schools athletic meet held earlier this year
he won the under 11, 75 metres sprint with a timing of 11.4 seconds and
also the under 11 long jump with a distance of 3,82 met and in both he
secured first places.
He was placed third in the 100 metres with a timing of 15.7 seconds.
He was adjudged the best performer in the under 11 age group in the
Central Province.
Last month at the Kandy District it Junior Athletic meet which was
affected by rain he was 2nd in the under 11, 80 metres and long jump and
was adjudged the best performer.
In the year 2011 he won both the 50 metres and 75 metres in the under
11 age group to be adjudged the Beat athlete in that age group in the
championship organized by the Kandy District Athletic Association. In
2010 participating in the International School Athletic Championship in
the under 10 age group he was placed first in the long jump and 80
metres.
All along this little one has been preforming well from the age of 8
having participated in the under 9 age group at the International
Schools Athletic Championship second places in long jump and 60 metres
and was also a member of the 4x50 relay team in 2010. He was adjudged
under 9 champion in that meet.
At the district meet held in 2011 in the under 11 age group he was
third in long jump and first in both 80 metres and 50 metres sprint and
was adjudged the best athlete. |
