Angelo Perera, Jehan Mubarak centurions in Premier Limited Over Cricket

NCC again piled up 343 runs in their Premier League Limited Over match and recorded a thumping win over Kurunegala Youth Sports Club by huge 222 runs at NCC grounds yesterday.

Right handed middle order batsman Angelo Perera cracked stunning 66-ball 113 runs. Perera, who scored a sparkling half century in the previous match against Badureliya, smashed three sixes and 10 fours.

All-rounder Ferveesh Maharoof hit valuable 84 runs in the minnow bashing game.

NCC: 343/4 (Angelo Perera 113 n.o, Jehan Mubarak 102 n.o, Fervish Maharoof 84, A Nidarshana 2/73).

Kurunegala YSCC: 121 in 36.3 overs (DM Sarachchandra 29, DR Mahawatte 28, U Wijesiri 23, Sohan Boralessa 3/14, Tharindu Kaushal 2/22, LD Madushan 2/13).

Tamil Union on winning streak

Tamil Union continued their winning streak as they defeated Badureliya Sports Club by two wickets at the P Sara Oval yesterday.

Tamil Union opening batsman and one time Sri Lanka opener Mahela Udawatte smashed 76 runs with the help of skipper Sachithra Serasinghe, who scored 41.

Sent into bat, Badureliya scored 188 in the first innings as Sri Lanka Under-19 batsman Pabasara Waduge hammered 56 runs with M Bandara (52).

Thilina Thushara picked up three wickets for 29 runs while another Sri Lanka Youth all-rounder Pulina Tharanga captured three for 23 runs.

Badureliya: 188/8 (Pabasara Waduge 56, M Bandara 52, R Shamen 31, Thilina Thushara 3/29, Pulina Tharanga 3/23).

Air Force win by 29 runs

Sri Lanka Air Force defeated Chilaw Marians by 29 runs in their Premier League match played at Premadasa Stadium yesterday.

SL Air Force: 156 in 45.5 overs (T Nadeera 29, G Namal 27, A Eranga 25, Sachith Pathirana 4/23, Umesh Karunaratne 2/36).

Chilaw Marians: 127 in 27.2 overs (Sachith Pathirana 60, G Kumara 27, HA Ishanka 5/24, PC Hewage 2/27, TR Jayawardena 2/42).

Gihan hammers 86

Colombo Cricket Club’s Gihan Rupasinghe hammered 82-ball 86 runs to defeat the Colts Cricket Club by two runs on Duckworth Lewis method as the match stopped due to bad light at the Colts grounds yesterday.

The left hander’s impressive innings was studded with seven sixes and three fours.

Sent into bat, CCC bowled out for 218 runs as Colts skipper Sajeewa Weerakoon and IA Jayaratne impressed with the ball. Weerakoon picked up two wickets while Jayaratne captured three.

In reply, hundred maker of the last match, opener Kusal Janith Perera cracked 63 runs. Left handed Perera scored sparkling 155 runs in just 116 balls in the previous match.

CCC: 218 in 49.2 overs (Gihan Rupasinghe 86, TP Kandanarachchi 29, IA Jayaratne 3/23, Sajeewa Weerakoon 2/28, Harsha Vithana 2/30).

Lankan CC beat BRC

Lankan Cricket Club overcame Burgher Recreation Club by 2 runs on Duckworth Lewis method when the match stopped due to bad light at the BRC ground yesterday.

The match started behind the clock and taking the first lease of the wicket, Lankan CC scored 200 runs in 43 overs. Stylish right hander Tharaka Waduge smashed 33 runs with three sixes and two fours while PD Dias adding a half century (59).

Lankan CC: 200/9 in 43 overs (PD Dias 59, OP Fernando 39, Sajeewa Salgado 27, MI Ratnayake 4/35, DR Eranga 3/37).

BRC: 167/7 in 37 overs (HM Mowjood 37, SA Perera 35 n.o, RP Tattil 28, MA Aponso 2/25, R Sampath 2/29).

Bloomfield all out for 98

Ragama Cricket Club bowled out Bloomfield for pathetic 98 runs and chased the target in 24.1 overs in the Premier League limited over match played at the Bloomfield grounds yesterday.

Bloomfield were skittled out for 98 runs after electing to bat first. In reply, former Sri Lanka Test opener Michael Vandort was unbeaten on 40 with Lahiru Thirimanna, who was at 14 not out.

Bloomfield: 98 in 31 overs (PA Perera 24, NP Nawala 19, D de Silva 19, ML Perera 3/14, MR Jaleel 2/19, Saliya Karunanayake 2/8, Malinga Bandara 2/19).

Senanayake and Kandamby impress again

Sinhalese Sports Club’s spinner Sachithra Senanayake (3/18) and skipper Thilina Kandamby (63) impressed again and helped defeat Galle CC by 152 runs in their match played at the SSC grounds yesterday.

Right arm spinner, who had a five wicket haul in the previous match against Ragama CC, conceded three maiden overs in his nine overs yesterday. Ever steady Kandamby steered his team this time to the victory after they were beaten by just four runs against Ragama CC in the last match, where he scored 60 runs.

SSC: 261/9 (Thilina Kandamby 63, Dunushka Gunatilleke 58, Kaushal Silva 50, MH Wijesinghe 5/56).

Sailors trapped in Army spin web

Sri Lanka Army Sports Club registered an easy win over Sri Lanka Navy as they trounced sailors by nine wickets in their match played at the Panagoda ground yesterday.

Winning the toss and batting at first, Navy were bowled out for 108 runs in 38.3 overs as Sri Lanka national spinners Seekkuge Prasanna (5/15) and Ajantha Mendis (3/21) wrecked Navy innings.

SL Navy: 108 in 38.3 overs (DP Gurusinghe 29, KY Kumara 27, D Tissakuttige 22, Seekkuge Prasanna 5/15, Ajantha Mendis 3/21).

poor performance by Saracens

Saracens Sports Club again bowled out for a pathetic 98 runs before the Sri Lanka Ports Authority Cricket Club defeated them by four wickets at the Welisara yesterday.

Batting first, Saracens, who bowled out for disastrous 19 runs in the previous match, continued their pathetic performances yesterday too and were bundled for a paltry 98. In reply, SLPACC skipper and former Moors skipper Ashan Priyanjan cracked 42 runs and they reached the target in 20.5 overs.

Saracens: 98 in 27 overs (DH Sandagirigoda 24, DJ Sriyapala 20, GS Dissanayake 3/12, NC Komasoru 2/18, M Pushpakumara 2/33).

SLPACC: 103/6 in 20.5 overs (Ashan Priyanjan 42, KY de Silva 27, S Dushantha 4/35).

126-run opening stand

Moors Sports Club thrashed Panadura SC by 10 wickets in the Premier League match played at Moors grounds yesterday.

Moors openers Shehan Jayasuriya (60) and Isham Gouse (55) chased the 125-target with ease in 24.5 overs.

Panadura lads were bowled out for 125 runs after Moors invited them to bat first.

Panadura SC: 125 in 32.2 overs (DC Aravinda 35, LP Fernando 28, M Pushpakumara 3/53, AU Katipiarachchi 3/16, V Perera 2/31).

Moors: 126 in 24.5 overs (Shehan Jayasuriya 60, Isham Gouse 55).
