Gang posing as Police rob house

A four member gang of robbers clad in police uniforms, had broken into a house in Silumina Mawatha, Kadawata and robbed cash and jewellery worth Rs 418,000 last Tuesday.

The robbers had entered the house saying they wanted to search the house for hidden drugs and carried out the robbery, Police said.

After the robbers left the house, the inmates of the house had come to know that the cash and jewellery kept in the almirah were missing and had lodged a complaint at Kadawata Police.

The Police said, that there was only an old woman in the house, when the robbery took place.

So far no information has been received regarding the robbers. Kadawata Police are investigating.
