Most Rev. Dr. Joseph Spiteri,
Apostolic Nuncio and Rev. Sr. Rohini Mendis, Province Leader
of Good Shepherd Sisters of Sri Lanka and Pakistan opened
the newly built auditorium of Ave Maria Convent, Negombo on
December 15. The state-of-the art auditorium was the
brainchild of outgoing principal Rev. Sr. Francine Muthugala.
The opening of the new building coincided with the annual
Christmas carol service held under the patronage of Rev. Sr.

Panagoda Susila Community Water
Supply Project was commissioned by Water Supply and Drainage
Minister Dinesh Gunewardena recently to mark President
Mahinda Rajapaksa’s 68th birth day. Here the minister

The 18th certificate awarding
ceremony for those who followed the Diploma Course in
Diplomacy and World Affairs and Certificate Course in World
Affairs conducted by Bandaranaike International Diplomatic
Training Institute was held at the Lakshman Kadirgamar
Institute of International Relations and Strategic Studies
under the patronage of External Affairs Minister Prof G L
Peiris. One hundred and thirty recipients who followed the
two courses received certificates. Here, Prof Peiris
presents an award to Malinda Amarasinghe, the Most
Outstanding student in the Diploma Course. |

Crowds near the Tissamaharama lake
where seven men drowned when a boat capsised on Saturday
evening. The Police said the boat capsised as it was
overloaded. Investigations revealed that the men had not
worn life jackets and were under the influence of liquor.
