The Chinese government agreed to provide assistance to develop Sri
Lanka's coconut industry.
This was revealed during discussions between Coconut Development and
Janatha Estate Development Minister Jagath Pushpakumara and Chinese
ambassador to Sri Lanka, Wu Jinhao recently.
It was revealed that there is a big demand for coconut fiber and
coconut husks and fiber related products and also for activated carbon.
The minister and the ambassador discussed the technology exchange
programme.
The Chinese ambassador agreed to provide an opportunity for coconut
cultivators representing Kapruka Committees to participate in an
inspection tour in China.
The minister and the ambassador discussed the reduction of the trade
gap between the two countries and enhance coconut exports to China. |
