Heavy rains damage reservoirs

The wewas of the North Central Province have either damaged or on the verge of being damaged due to heavy rains. They are: Sikkanda, Wewa, Kanhinda Wewa, Kadawatha Wewa, Ibbige Wewa, Makichchawa Wewa, Kukunawa Wewa, Welimuwa Pothana Wewa and Nabbakada wewa.

According to our provincial reporter Tennakoon Kulasekara due to heavy rains experienced on Saturday, the Horowpathana town has completely submerged. The North Central Province Provincial Council officials, Police and Civil Defense and all the tri forces work round the clock to take people to safety. Due to the water from the spilling wewas, a large number of paddy fields had also gone under water.
