A bank manager from Horana who allegedly gave a contract to murder
his own sister and sister- in-law, was arrested by the Colombo Crime
Division on information supplied by a disabled soldier, who had been
contracted for the killings.
A police team in disguise as gangsters had accompanied the disabled
soldier to meet the bank manager. When the deal was being discussed ,
the bank manager had told the police team in disguise that they had to
kill and burn his sister and the sister-in-law similar to the Kotaketana
murders.
The Police said the disabled soldier had donated a kidney to his
father, but later found his remaining kidney not functioning properly.
He was then admitted to a private hospital in Colombo for treatment.
He had met the bank manager at the hospital and became friends.
The bank manager had told him to kill the two women and burn their
bodies, on the promise that he would pay for the treatment of his kidney
ailment.
