This new IPTV solution offers hotels the most versatile In-room
entertainment solution for entertainment and information dissemination
LankaCom, Sri Lanka data communications pioneer this week launched
LankaCom IPTV, an advanced entertainment and information platform that
will transform the television in each hotel room into a entertainment
and information hub.
“Sri Lanka's tourism industry is targeting 2.5 million guests by 2016
and is in the process of adding an estimated 35,000 new rooms.
In-room entertainment and information will be a key factor in
disseminating information and also enhancing the overall experience of
guest,” LankaCom Managing Director Rohith Udalagama said.
“Our relationship with the corporate sector over the past 20 years
has grown immensely, on large part due to our dedication to customer
service and the introduction of best in class solutions. The LankaCom
IPTV system will help the tourism industry further enhance its guest
experience with better information and entertainment option.”
A majority of hotels currently offer only basic television facilities
with limited menus and entertainment options, due to the current high
costs of implementing an IPTV system.

The LankaCom IPTV system, developed by SingTel, offers hoteliers a
more cost effective and highly customisable solution. From easy
customisation of the Guest User Interface (GUI) to regularly updating
the system with guest relevant information, hotels will have greater
opportunities for branding, information dissemination and interaction
with the customers. The option to make all hotel related information
like excursions and activities will also help hotels to reduce printing
and staff costs in maintaining and updating the relevant information.
Hotels can also explore revenue opportunities by hosting promotional
and other information from partner organisation offering servicers or
organising activities in the vicinity of the hotels. Guests meanwhile
will have a chance to choose what they watch with an on demand menu for
videos and music, in addition a regular television lineup. In addition,
guest will also have access to the most current hotel offers, excursions
and other events and activities guests can participate in.
“Our system allows the guests to explore and to book hotel offers
from the comfort of his room. Unlimited services, merchandising
products, vouchers as well as products and services of external partners
through direct interfaces can be sold simply on the TV screen,” Mr.
Udalagama said.
