Ashan steers Southerners

A hard hit knock of 79 with 7 fours and 3 sixes by Ashan Dimuthu helped Southern Province to score a good 116 run win over Central Province in their Prima under 15 Inter-Provincial cricket tournament organized by Sri Lanka Cricket and played at Prison grounds, Pallekele yesterday.

Southern Province made 259 all out but the Central Province could only muster 143, thus crashing to their first defeat in the tournament.

First it was the bowling of Central Province team which let them down when they conceded 259 run.

Next their batsmen failed to deliver the goods as they crumbled to 143 all out.

Southern Province 259 all out in 48.5 over (Ashan Dimuthu 79, Charith Asalanka 44, Vanisha Hasanga 45, Thisila Dodanwela 2 for 49, S Tyrone 2 for 45).

Central Province 143 all out in 41.4 overs (L Y Pitawela 36, Tharindu Liyanage 21, Suresh Kumara 3 for 24, Sasara Jayawickrama 2 for 24).
