Arsonist commits suicide to escape Police

A worker attached to a jewellery and antique shop in Kandy, fleeing after setting the shop ablaze as an act of revenge on the shop owner, committed suicide by swallowing cyanide to escape the Police who tried to apprehend him while he was lying fallen on a by lane with severe cut injuries yesterday.

Indian traders nabbed

Four Indians on a tourist visa, hawking textile in Batticaloa were nabbed by the STF. The textile traders were nabbed by the STF at Palugamam in the Batticaloa district and handed over to Kaluwanchikudy Police on Monday. They were hawking their textile when they were apprehended.
