3M connects global knowledge with local IT Industry

3M Sri Lanka held its eighth Volition Certified Installer Training Workshop recently, to deliver training targeting the country's leading experts in the IT industry. The two day event was attended by Chansool Park, Application Development Engineer in the Communication Markets Division for the Asia Pacific region, who arrived in Sri Lanka to conduct workshops on 3M Volition enterprise solutions for structured cabling.

The Volition Certified Installer Training workshop is the largest certification programme for the IT industry which covers a range of network solutions. 3M's network testing partner, ABC Trade and Investments Pvt Ltd was also at hand to educate participants about FLUKE Network Testers. Volition enterprise network solutions are tailored for streamlined installation and reduced labour and component costs. 3M structured cabling infrastructures are utilised wherever a local area network is required, including offices, hospitals, military sites, schools and universities, and can support standard data and telephony as well as applications requiring higher bandwidths, such as data storage, video streaming and security.

The event saw 100 participants from authorized installers, Corporates and government institutions, including SLT, Sri Lanka Army, CEB, MIT, CECB, Softlogic IT, Fentons, Sierra IT, BSS, Fortress Engineering and many more, and authorized partners Powernet, Micro PC Systems, Metropolitan Computers, Sumathi IT and SLTS.

As a value addition to the IT industry, the entire workshop was offered free of charge for all participants" explains Derrick Ferdinandus, Sales Manager , Electro-Communications Division at 3M Sri Lanka. "We believe that knowledge-sharing and best practices enables 3M to add value to the relevant sectors in the country and tie-in with the nations development goals, thus allowing Sri Lanka to be on par with global standards and tap into emerging market opportunities".
