The 32nd Anniversary Celebration of the Islamic Majlis of D S

The D S Senanayake College Colombo Islamic Majlis celebrated its 32nd Anniversary, Faith at the Bishops College Auditorium recently. It was held under the patronage of the Principal of the College Col. D M D Dissanayake.

The Chief Guest of the ceremony Former Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran M M Zuhair (President Counsel) requested parents to encourage their children on education and to always check their books after school to see what they have done within the particular day in school.

He further said that D S is a school that have children belonging to all four religions and that they share everything among themselves with unity and harmony. He further stated that this is a good example for students in other countries and he requested all students to take part in extra curricular activities in school apart from their studies.

He also stated that parents should help to uplift the standard of the school.

Guest of Honour, Former Secretary of the Muslim Religious and Cultural Affairs Ministry and Educationist S H M Jameel said that DS students overall performances are excellent and he appreciated children performing well in all four languages.

The Principal of the College Col. D M D Dissanayake said that he appreciates the unity and harmony among DS students and also he thanked the Muslim parents for delivering their fullest corporation in all College based activities. He further said children are present in school only for six hours and rest of the time they are with their parents so that parents should always encourage them in their studies.

Winner of the Overall Champion of the Islamic day Competition Rishad Rizan of DS Senanayake College received a challenge trophy and Isipathana College received the Inter School Championship Award from the Chief Guest M M Zuhair.

The official website of the Islamic Majlis was launched by the Chief Guest and the guest of honour donated some books to the College library.

Deputy Principals Lilani Samaranayke, Janaka Kumara, Vice Principal, School Principals , Staff , Students and Parents were also present at this ceremony.
