Madarata Abimanaya award to Vashinyaa

Remember Vashinyaa Premanand? The lass who created history as the
youngest web designer in Sri Lanka and the second youngest in the world
had added another jewel to her crown by bagging the Madarata Abimanaya
award recently.
The award is given to some of the most outstanding personalities in
the Central Province. These include categories like the best business
man, best writer, best journalist, best athletic etc. Students who have
won international accolades and significant all island achievements are
also eligible for the award.
Vashinyaa's talents are not limited to web designing alone. The year
eight student of Colombo International School, Kandy, had got an ‘A’
pass in English for her G C E O/L examination in 2010.
She was able to create her e mail ID at the age of three years while
she began designing her first web site when she was nine.
“We are amazed by her achievements. It is very difficult to master
such techniques because web designing is a difficult task. Even a 16
year old would find it a challenge but Vashinyaa managed to accomplish
the task at such a tender age. She had done Sri Lanka proud by taking
the nation's name to the world,” noted the statement which expressed why
Vashinyaa was selected for the award.
Vashinyaa and her parents |
Vashinyaa is the daughter of Premanand Nadaraja and Lakshi Premanand
Sakthivel.
She had learnt the basics of computer technology from her mother and
Esoft Metro Campus, Kandy. She is currently in the final year of the BCS
IT Degree. Expressing her ideas about her recent triumph Vashinyaa said
that she is grateful to Lord Ganesha, her parents, Central Province
Chief Minister Sarath Ekanayake and Central Province Governor Tikiri
Kobbekaduwa for helping her on her path to success.
“My mentor uncle Kumaran, my teacher Raziya Harja, my coordinator
Upul Wijerathna and my lecturer Shamri Ahafurdeen too deserve my
heartfelt thanks,” she added with a smile of content. |
