London Stanfords College launched

The launch of the London Stanfords College was held at the Cinnamon
Grand, Sri Lanka on Dec. 7. The launch was to set-up a college with
modern facilities at No 396, Galle Road, Colombo 3, Sri Lanka. It was
held under the patronage of Higher Education Minister S.B. Dissanayaka,
Dr Sudharma Wickramasuriya, Head of Academics, Max Mir,
Chairman/Director and Mike N.Thomas, Principal of the College.
The London Stanfords College would provide affordable, quality
education, aimed at supporting the Government's vision of increasing the
percentage of local students with access to quality higher education and
also to furnish the local industry with home grown talent needed to
further develop Sri Lanka's international commerce. Max Mir (CEO) said
the aim was to establish a sustainable and unaffected educational hub in
Sri Lanka. With the introduction of more advanced technology for
educational purposes., working up a strong partnership with local
industries to enrich the growth of higher education, a well qualified
panel of lecturers and staff would be provided within various regions,
for helping the students solve their problems.
Higher Education Minister S.B. Dissanayaka who was Chief Guest on the
occasion, said he was very pleased and thankful for being invited to the
launch.
He said that tertiary education would be available to students with
rich quality and variety.
International tutorials and support staff would ensure students
graduating from the college would adopt themselves to an easy life style
in UK or Canada. A well-qualified international lecture panel, staff
team and administrator would be brought down from UK to co-operate with
the London Stanford’s College. Government policy also welcomes the
College to establish more branches, campuses and also invite local
investors to Sri Lanka to acquire connections with Campuses in Canada.
After the establishment of the college, the permanent structure for land
and resources would be provided for and supported by the Government. The
College, with an international partnership incorporating the combined
resources of Stanfords College UK, Essex College and the College of the
North Atlantic in Canada would established the reputations of all three
institutions for academic excellence.
The LSC provides a student friendly social and cultural scene with a
wide range of subjects and courses that provide students with the
opportunity to further their English Language and human skills, while
enhancing their knowledge in the key subject matter.
The college is ensured to provide a better future for the students in
changing their lives and transforming them into efficient people,
delivering a quality and safe job oriented educational environment.
This established College has 80 years of experience in offering
quality higher education to international students and at present, are
engaged in enrolling approximately 25,000 students per year, in total,
into over 400 full and part time courses. |
