Experienced Anura Rohana Dazzles to defend title
The 18th hole was poised for a thriller with Anura Rohana leading on
7 under with Vijitha, Praba and Mithun joint second 1 stroke behind.
Praba and Anura hit their second shots to under 8 feet from the flag
while Vijitha Bandara 'almost' holed his Birdie from 30 feet.

Praba Putted first having to 'hole' his Birdie Putt to tie for the
lead but missed by enough to allow Anura Rohana the pleasure and pride
of nailing his Birdie Putt to eventually win by a comfortable two
strokes.
R.A.Anura Rohana won the Sri Lanka Open Championship for the 7th time
to join K.Nandasena Perera who reigned supreme 1982 to 1992 also winning
the championship seven times. Veteran Champion Nadasena Perera having
made the cut ended in 25th place.
The Pam Fernando Challenge Trophy played over 2 rounds for the best
Gross Aggregate Score Niloo Jayathilake won by 3 strokes from Neesha
Nirmalalingam. In the ladies Nett Division Nonaka Namie from Japan was
the clear winner with a 2 round nett total of 141 12 strokes clear of
the Runners up 'evergreen' Fran De Mel.
The UTE CAT Challenge Trophy for Amateur members over two rounds was
Sheron Fernando was the worthy winner by 10 strokes from Pan Soon Kim.
The Award Ceremony was conducted with the RCGC Captain and Chairman
of UTE representing the principal sponsor Priath Fernando giving away
the champions trophy. CML MTD Construction Ltd. Managing Director Dian
Jyasuriya representing the main co-sponsor of the championship also gave
away the awards.
